We can say that there are no two identical rolling mills on the World, the same with XpertManager System. It is always adapted and always responds to the needs of customer and user.

Interfaces communication

The XpertManager System offers dedicate interfaces. This interfaces, enable business process integration and asynchronous data communication between two or more SAP systems or between SAP and external systems.

Communication interfaces with any MES or ERP (level 3), Exchanging information in both ways.

The XpertManager System was created by rolling mill operators for rolling mill operators. One of the most important characteristic of XpertManager System is continuous development and can cover almost all requirements of the customer. In base of all the information displayed by all the XpertManager modules; directives, managers, section managers and supervisors, can focus their working energy to increase the productivity and reduce costs.


engineering Operators & Maintenance

Reports of XpertManager include all information necessary to take correct decisions for both operators and maintenance crews. All parameters of rolling and info about technical state of particular machines and devices is constantly track. Time needed to adjust parameters of rolling can be reduced to minimum. Also maintenance based on real technical state of particular devices is a top level of maintenance, the best combination of predictive, preventive and in case of breakdown reactive maintenance.

Scheduling based on the best for the mill sequence, which reduce changeovers to minimum is crucial for cost saving managing. Also utilization of rolling tools and equipment based on correct lifetime is relevant for utilization of available time and reducing of size changes and changeovers. Management of spare parts is reliable, is based on real needs of the mill. Using special applications for view, it is possible to observe in real time activity of operators across all production line.

Counting the real costs of particular part of production is possible and easy. System is able to display any part of production portion, with number of combination of filters. Full info includes cost of the tools, equipment, gas and electricity consumption and of course cost of billets and labor. With these info controlling have full palette of data necessary to do their job.

XpertManager is very friendly for operators. Training is taking few hours, during training operators are doing their everyday duties with a little help of the System. Operator influence is usually limited to choose option. Modules are delivered in language according needs of customer.

Line structure

This module allows the users to manage the information referent to the mill physic structure, such as; line, module, equipment, part, failure and responsible.
The information of the mill structure is necessary to report the different failures or scheduled stops in the mill operation trough the tracking module and identify the zone with the problem and the responsible of the same.
This module also administrates the crews calendar where is created the crew roll month by month.

Crew calendar

This module allows the creation, month by month, of the role of crews per shift for the rolling mill. Therefore, the KPIs that are generated make it possible to measure the performance and balance of each crew according to their results.

Billet Catalogue

This module (Steel grades) is the responsible of administrating the information about the steel grades available for rolling in the mill. Also, control all the values concerning to the steel grades and the characteristics of the billets that are delivered by the melt-shop to the billet yard, such as:

BYI Module

The Billet Yard Inventory module, manage and keep updated the inventory of the billets yard. With precise information of reception, location, changing location, existence and outputs of material.

Mill Charging Sequence

The MCS Module is a powerful tool, allow to the users to create, receive, sequence and see the status of the production orders.
The production orders are separated by production programs; the production programs are created by month.

Charging Grill

The Charging Grill module is designed to charge into the grill all the production orders ready to be charged into the furnace to be rolled.
Production orders are formed by a heats sequence that is built in the MCS module.

Furnance and Mill Tracking

This module has an interactive interface through which provides in real time, substantial information that describes how and conditions for every rolled billet along the mill, including related information from devices interconnected into this application.
This module collects critical information; most of this comes directly from L1 (PLCs) and other devices working along the mill.

Delays report

The delay report is a module that allow the main pulpit operator to report a delay after this happened, this module is based in the Line structure module.
When a delay occurs and it ends, the tracking module triggers an event so that a window pops up and gives the main pulpit operator the possibility to report the delay at that precise moment.

Delays editor

Once a delay is reported by the main pulpit operator, if the rolling mill team decide to change the delay concept, the System administrator can to use this module to change the delay concept and assign a specific delay to a new concept.

This module is only for the System administrator no one will have access to this.

Coil/Bundle Tagging & Weighing

This module is designed to receive the final product (coil), weigh it, create an ID for it and print its respective tag with all the necessary information (WO, Heat, Weight, Product, etc.), for this final product.
During this procedure all the information is saved to allow tag reprints, weight editing and viewing of weight reports and internally the module prepare the information for each coil to be transferred to another module or system ERP(SAP).

Real time production monitor

This module allows the user to see the status of the rolling mill in real time.
The screens show all the process information for the product that is currently being produced. Several KPIs graphs and the summary of bills rolled per hour during the shift are also available.

Quality on line

This module is designed to register the qualification process for each coil, creating a record of whether it was rejected and the rejection reason/cause.
This process is performed before the coil is weighed.

The module can handle many rejections causes; the rejection causes are administrated separately but the module can access them transparently. The results of all the qualifications are available to be presented to the users in more detailed reports in the XAR module.

Quality off line

The QOFF Module is the responsible of registering the qualification process into one second inspection of each coil it means having in the coil record if it was rejected or not and if it was also having the rejection cause, these rejection causes are for one second inspection.

Coil/Bundle Yard Inventory

The CYI Module is the responsible of receiving the final product after it was weighed and located in a specific location of the Final Product Yard to in some moment take out to complete one shipment order.

Xpert Analysis Reports

The XAR Module is the responsible of detailing the information of charging grill, the furnace charge, rolling times, delays, gap o schedule stops, weighing and quality process. Compare the indicators like metallic yield, quality yield, rolling speed, real productive time vs standards to measure the productivity.

Scale machine monitor

This module shows to the user the current WO-Heat that is being weighed at real time on the Rolling mill weighing station. Displaying the Profile-Diameter-Grade, also shows a detail (weight-datetime and Coil/Bundle Id Number) coil by coil.

Billet monitor editor

The Billet Monitor Editor Module, allows to the XpertManager system administrator to fix or make the corrections directly in the source (means database). With this module.
The information flow is designed so that each module of the system delivers data in valid format. In case that some operating problem need to be solved and the information in the database has to be modified, the XpertManager system administrator has to use this module to do it.

User access manager

This module manage the privileges and restrictions that each user has in XpertManager system. With this tool the user administrator can decide what is going to use each user account according to the job assigned.
This program shoud be used only by an administrator user. XpertManager is a powerful system not only for information managing; it has been created to follow information in a simple way. But XpertManager not only offers facilities to users, it does for administrator too.

Tag manager system

This is an administrative module and its main function is to add and update all the tag templates that will be used in the Rolling Mill for the CTW application to load the template that will be printed for the final products.

  • The tags templates will be charged in format jpg or bmp
  • This module will process the original image to be charged by the CTW applications

SAP XpertManager Interfaces

The XpertManager System offers dedicate interfaces that enable business process integration and asynchronous data communication between two or more SAP systems or between SAP and external systems.
For a regular case, communication will be started by SAP; it will send XML files containing the next information: Heats, Heat's chemical analysis, Work orders,New Indexes (Billets, Products), With this information, the XpertManager system can start the production's tracking procedure, starting from the billet yard inventory and ending at the coil weighing & tagging module, being in this last point where the writing interfaces send data to SAP.

Bearings manager

The Chocks and Bearings manager is the application where will be charged all the information about all bearings and chocks used in the rolling mill, all the bearings and chocks will have the individual ID for each element, the information about the stand that can be mounted, information about the supplier and brand, life time supplier recommendation, price by supplier, and reports.

OPR Comparator

The purpose to have in the XpertManager system the Billet Identification number marked after the Continuous Casting Machine is to avoid any kind of mistake loading the furnace, mixing the heats and steel grades.
This system has an interface that provide the operator a tool to see what the XpertManager system is monitoring and what the OPR system is providing. Information is displayed in a simple interface that gives operator option to confirm information.

Email reports

The Email Reports tool provides a detailed, in-depth overview of some events occurred on production. This tool is essential in understanding the reach and impact of rolling mill performance, so you can go back and see what is effective.
The email reports aviable are:

  • Gas consumption per shift
  • One-Hour delay report
  • Production daily summary report
  • No gas reading
  • Bearings activity summary and monthly status

The RGM Module is a set of applications enables Roll Shops to optimize operational efficiency in easy way, also helps to increase productivity and profitability. The Module has a Pass catalogue, Product Configuration, and Cycles inventories in order to manage any combination or requirement by the Bar or Wire Rod Mill.

Roll and Guide Management

The "RGM application" helps the roll shop manager to control and monitoring every basic function of the roll shop.

The system starts with the information from rolling process engineering and the main source is the pass Schedule, roll pass configuration, product configuration, and optimum production cycles.
The inventory is linked through the life of each roll starting from the machining and the rolled tons in each pass.

Roll Housing Assembly

The "Roll Housing Assembly" application is designed to generate the work orders for the assembly area. Supported with filters such as: strand, roll type, product or products group.

Also, is possible to observe the general state of the roll's pairs from a set allowing the user to decide if this group of rolls is the most accurate for the rolling plan.

Mill Changes

This application is the most important inside the information flow, because here is where the tons accumulation is executed not only at the roll taken as a simple unit but also in each pass. Hence, the user can know in every moment, the state of each roll and its passes.
Also, in this application, the user notifies to the system all the changes that occur at the line, like a pass change, or a set change. With this, the system can track all the changes and everything that happens in the mill including the worn roll in real time. To perform this, the rolls must be enabling previously through an assembly order.

Finally, when a product change occurred, there is the possibility that the system shows up those roll that can be used or are common for the next product to be rolled. It also allows to the user to see the available sets for the next product. This process is executed from the main pulpit, having a constant communication between the personal working at the line, achieving more accurate information and the tons accumulation in the roll and pass and its positions are correct.

Assembly & Disassembly

The "Assembly and Disassembly" application helps to the mill operators to define which sets can be used to roll certain products.

It includes 2 main screens of assembly and disassembly:

  • The first one shows to the user the roll pairs to be assembly, actual diameter, required request date and also for which product can be used, including exit and entry guides.
  • In the other hand, the disassembly screen shows only the rolls pair to be disarmed, after this, the rolls are taken to the workshop for evaluation.
Machining Rolls

The "Machining Rolls" application work orders for the mill's rolls are generated here; in each work order, data is associated with the set, upper and lower rolls, actual diameter and working state of each pass expressed in tons, it is also input which machine the rolls are going to be fixed.

In the same way, the system shows an interface where the user can capture when the work order has ended, or report the final diameter specifying of there is a pass not available in the next works and also adding notes for the work orders.
